What You Should Know About Air Plants

We have festive air plants available! Caring for air plants is easy and rewarding! Here’s a simple guide to keep your air plants healthy and thriving:

1. Watering

  • Soaking Method: Every 1-2 weeks, soak your air plants in room-temperature water for about 20-30 minutes. Make sure to shake off any excess water afterward.
  • Misting: If soaking isn’t feasible, mist your plants 2-3 times a week, especially in dry conditions.

2. Light

  • Bright, Indirect Light: Place your air plants in a spot where they receive bright, indirect sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.

3. Temperature & Humidity

  • Ideal Conditions: Air plants thrive in temperatures between 50°F and 90°F. They enjoy humidity, so placing them in a bathroom or near a kitchen can be beneficial.

4. Air Circulation

  • Good Airflow: Ensure your air plants have good airflow around them to prevent mold and rot. Avoid placing them in enclosed containers without ventilation.

5. Fertilizing

  • Optional: Use a bromeliad or air plant fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring and summer) for extra nutrients.

6. Cleaning

  • Dusting: Occasionally rinse your air plants with water to remove dust and debris. This keeps them healthy and looking their best.

7. Signs of Trouble

  • Brown Tips: This can indicate underwatering or too much direct sunlight.
  • Soft Leaves: If the leaves feel soft or mushy, it might be a sign of overwatering.

With these simple care tips, your air plants will flourish, adding beauty and life to your space!
